‘Street football’ pitches are distinctly creative in their composition. Virtually any space of any shape is capable of becoming a makeshift field and entertaining its players for hours on end. Sadly, however, these unique pitches are often dangerous or dilapidated. Using an innovative concept developed by Instituto Formação, streetfootballworld and Sony launched the ‘Street Stadium’ project in 2014 and sought to provide more young people with safe places to play.

Street Stadiums can be constructed anywhere - on the streets, on a field or even inside a building. This mobility allows them to reach players in underprivileged areas and serve as a gathering point for their communities. Since the project’s inception, streetfootballworld and Sony have coordinated the development of more than 25 Street Stadiums in seven different countries, providing thousands of young people with safer places to play and learn.
