Are you interested in Development through Football and being part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup? If so, this is your chance to have the experience of a lifetime by volunteering for the Football for Hope Festival 2010!

This week, the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa (OC) launched its drive to recruit 15,000 volunteers for the entire 2010 World Cup. As an official event of the FIFA World Cup™, the Football for Hope Festival 2010 will be fully integrated into the World Cup volunteer programme.

Individuals interested in volunteering at Festival 2010 should register by Monday August 31st online at FIFA.com. When applying, candidates can indicate that they are interested in volunteering specifically for the Football for Hope Festival 2010. Please disregard the comment in the registration process that volunteers should come from Alexandra. The application is open to people from all over the world.

The Football for Hope Festival 2010 will take place from June 27th to July 12th 2010 in Alexandra, Johannesburg. The event will bring together 32 delegations from organisations which are using football to effect social change around the world. These delegations will take part in a fast-paced football tournament as well as a programme of exchange and intercultural dialogue. Festival 2010 is being organised by streetfootballworld, FIFA, the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee South Africa and the City of Johannesburg. More information on Festival 2010 can be found here.

Volunteers will play a major role in ensuring the success of Festival 2010 and their tasks will range from assisting the participating delegations, interacting with festival spectators and supporting the festival programme. With over 200 volunteers expected from around the world, it promises to be an enriching and highly enjoyable experience!

Before applying, please read through the volunteering guidelines and ensure that you meet the requirements. Please also be aware that travel and accommodation costs for World Cup volunteers will not be covered. The World Cup volunteer training programme, through which all volunteers will progress prior to the World Cup, will be made available via distance learning to cater for international volunteers.

We would be delighted to welcome you to the Football for Hope Festival 2010 and together celebrate the social dimension of the game at the 2010 FIFA World Cup™!
