streetfootballworld Managing Director Jürgen Griesbeck joined former US President Bill Clinton and other world figures onstage at the 5th Annual Meeting of the Clinton Global Initiative in New York, Sept. 22nd-25th.
Juergen attended the annual meeting with some of streetfootballworld's strategic partners as a result of its work on a total of three Commitments to Action: specific, measurable initiatives focused on addressing social development. Two of the three were announced publicly during the event.
20 Centres for 2010
Led by FIFA, the first Commitment that was announced was the Football for Hope 20 Centres for 2010, the Official Campaign of the 2010 World Cup. As part of a lasting social legacy in Africa, FIFA and streetfootballworld will develop a total of twenty community hubs across the continent, featuring education, health and football facilities.
1GOAL
President Clinton himself announced 1GOAL, a global education campaign that aims to ensure that the 75 million children out of school in Africa and the world's poorest countries get access to classrooms, teachers and the future that education provides. streetfootballworld joined Jérôme Valcke, Secretary General of FIFA; Her Majesty Queen Rania of Jordan; Bono; Jessica Alba; VPs from Cisco and Intel; and other major figures for the announcement.
The following plenary session addressed the crucial role of education and employment opportunities and highlighted an integrated approach that includes establishing criteria and performance indicators e.g. regarding education on the highest levels of economic co-operation.
streetfootballworld also participates in a third Commitment with the Inter-American Development Bank and FIFA, called Youth Development through Sport in South America.
