streetfootballworld network member Football United and Football Federation Australia (FFA) have created a new partnership. FFA will support Football United in the run-up to the Football for Hope Festival 2010 in Johannesburg, South Africa, where the streetfootballworld network member will represent Australia. Ben Buckley, CEO of FFA, said the organisation was very proud that an Australian team had been chosen to participate in the festival. “The kids in this team are all refugees from places such as Africa, Asia, the Middle East, eastern Europe, the Pacific, as well as Australia,” he noted. “They are inspiring individuals who have been chosen for this once-in-a-lifetime experience due to their commitment to the Football United Programme and their playing ability.” Not two, but three national teams The FFA will also provide financial assistance to the organisation. Explained Mr. Buckley: “to help Football United on their way and kick start their fundraising activity, FFA will today make a starting donation of $20,000 to their ‘Football for Hope’ fund. We also encourage others—whether business or individuals—to donate to Football United and help us send a second Australian team to the World Cup.” |
