As part of Augsburg’s programme of cultural events for the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2011 in Germany, KICKFAIR is supporting Sport Schneider in hosting the Peace Cup. The organisation is inviting streetfootballworld network members from all over the world to participate.
With the motto “City of Peace”, Augsburg has put together an exciting programme of cultural events. A highlight is the international Football – Peace festival, Peace Cup, which is taking place in a specially built stadium.
streetfootballworld network members guests in Augsburg
For three days, Augsburg will become the venue of a tournament for peace, intercultural exchange and tolerance. As well as teams from Augsburg, five organisations from the streetfootballworld network will take part. These are the Peres Center for Peace and Al Quds Association for Democracy and Dialogue (Israel/Palestinian Authority), Espérance (Rwanda), Football Friends (Serbia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina) and Spirit of Soccer (Cambodia). The tournament will be played according to football3 rules and will be accompanied by a wide programme of events.
football3 and intercultural exchange
Even two weeks before the tournament itself begins, participants can get to know one another through activities that are open to all. KICKFAIR is inviting teenagers from Augsburg as well as young leaders of the international delegations to workshops that demonstrate football3 methods and give an insight into how different organisations use football in their native countries to help people live together peacefully.
