Global Sports Forum Barcelona 2012

The fourth annual Global Sports Forum Barcelona will take place from 7-9 March, with a diverse programme focusing on reshaping the sporting landscape.

The Global Sports Forum attempts to bring together the fields of sport, business and social development, with notable guest speakers including FC Barcelona president Sandro Rosell, Innsbruck 2012 Youth Olympics CEO Peter Bayer and Emmanuel Seugé, Head of Global Sports and Entertainment Marketing at Coca Cola.

The programme will include sessions such as “Giving back: the role of philanthropy in sport” and “Sport & health: the battle against obesity”, as well as numerous networking opportunities and discussion panels.

A further highlight will be the awards ceremony, which will honour innovative sports-based projects. Previous winners include streetfootballworld network members WhizzKids United, Play Soccer, Peres Center for Peace and Kick4Life.

The Football for Hope movement, initiated by FIFA and streetfootballworld to harness the power of football for social change, collected the award for Philanthropy and Cooperation through Sports in 2010.

The nominees for the 2012 awards have yet to be announced. For full details of the programme and information on how to apply for nomination, please visit the Global Sports Forum website. The final deadline for entries is 23 December.
