In the summer of 2008 Los Angeles Laker Jordan Farmar came to Israel to
take part in interfaith basketball clinics between Jewish and Arab
youth. Bringing together children from areas where rockets and gunshots
are all too familiar, the Peres Center for Peace organized the clinics
to foster cooperation and understanding in a region where the two
peoples do not often get a chance to interact with each other.
Three Cities Productions, a California/Tel Aviv based production
company met up with Farmar in Israel, and followed not only his
experience with the basketball clinics, but also spent the week with
the NBA’s only Jewish player as he toured the country.
Using basketball as the common language, Jordan Farmar shows these
children that communication and coexistence is a realistic and viable
option. This documentary short highlights Farmar’s personal journey of
connecting with the holy land, while spreading a positive message of
peace and building hope for the future:
