In honour of the UN proclaimed International Day of Peace, which is celebrated on 21st September, the Peres Center for Peace in collaboration with the Al Quds Association for Democracy and Dialogue, held a special youth event, in cooperation with the Israeli Cartoon Museum in Holon.  Some 200 Palestinian and Israeli participants of the "Twinned Peace Sport Schools" project from the communities of Kiryat Gat, Kiryat Malachi, Tulkarem, Ein Rafa and Jericho took part in cartoon workshops.

Led by renowned Palestinian and Israeli cartoonists, the youngsters worked in mixed groups to create cartoons and illustrations that demonstrated their vision for a peaceful future.  Each mixed group took part in a number of workshops including illustrative wall graffiti, designing a 'peace' superhero and drawing mini-comic strips.  The special event was concluded with a ceremony led by the Mayor of Holon and a viewing of the animated short film: 'The Pace of Peace':
