The Peres Center for Peace is an independent, non-profit, non-partisan, non-governmental organisation founded in 1996 by Nobel Peace Laureate, former Prime Minister, and current President of Israel Mr. Shimon Peres. The organisation’s mission is to build an infrastructure of peace and reconciliation by and for the people of the Middle East that promotes socio-economic development, while advancing cooperation and mutual understanding.

The Peres Center's "Twinned Peace Football Schools" initiative encourages reconciliation between young Palestinian and Israeli boys and girls from disadvantaged and peripheral communities, through an extra-curricular programme comprised of sport training, Peace Education instruction, auxiliary educational support and joint Palestinian-Israeli sporting and social activities. This after-school programme imparts the values of peace and mutual understanding, encourages acceptance of cultural differences, and breaks down negative stereotypes.
