UPCOMING EVENTS AT SEP - OCTOBER 2011


13th , October, 2011
SEP in collaboration with the UN - Office for Communication for Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA)  will on the 13th October 2011 celebrate the world's day to ending drought. The event will be hosted by SEP at their social grounds, Kotieno Primary school. It will bring oin board different actors who are also partners of SEP at the local level. These will include Kotieno Primary school, Nyahera Primary School, Nyahera Girls' Sec. School, local / provincial administration, UHAI environmental Project, Kisumu and other professionals on environmental issues.
SEP will organize for a training/information giving session just before tree planting. This will focus on the essence of environmental conservation through trees planting, replacement strategy - incase any sedling is spoilt, how does is it get replaced etc.SEP has also organized for football matches, inter school competion.
The UN - OCHA has pledged to support the purchase of 2000 seedlings towards this event.

15TH, October 2011 - The Global Hand washing Day:(GHD)
The Ministry of Public Health Services (MoPHs) in liaison with Society Empowerment Project (SEP), will this year host regional GHD   in rachuonyo district.MoPHs will take the lead in half organizing half day activities laucnh will will run over to the  main event on October 15th 2011. Commemorating this event aims at reducing diarrheal incidences in Homabay County  with highest chiuld mortality rates in Kenya.
SEP's unique Yoth football programme will leverage the power  of football as atool to:
Improve Hand washing behaviour through games and interegrated messaging in areas such as Hand washing  (HW) with Soap, Germs Spread through hand shaking - SEP will expound on this through the use of glitter games with children as the priamry target - for demonstration.
Teach and increase knowledge of school children, youth and community on benefits of HW hygiene with soap.
Mobilize pupils, youth and the wider community and raise awareness on HW hygiene in Homabay County. 
This event will bring on board specific primary partners as follows:
UNICEF - Funds WASH Prgrame in Homabay County
CARE - Kenya - Fund WASH Programme in Homabay County
SANA international - Implemented the hardware component of WASH Programme in Rachuonyo South district.
SEP - In charge of football programmes as a means to information dessemination- Football will provide the platform to sensitize the community on WASH related information.
District Ministry of Education - WASH is implemented in schools, Homabay County
Provincial and District Public Health Officers -The WAH issue is a publi matter.
KWAHO - Implementing the Hardware component of WASH in Rachuonyo North District.
APHIA PLUS - Will support in the logistics, partly, during the event.
Plans to make the day a success are under way. SEP shoot back tream will effectively report on this after the event.

17th - 19th October 2011:
SEP is pleased to share its participation in the forth coming Adidas Exchange Programme for East Africa. The w/shop will be held in Nairobi, Kenya. The two main components will be football coaching and strategic planning and regional coperation - a participatory approach to sports programmes for girls.
SEP wiull be presented in this event by two people. More reports will be shared afterwards.
