Soccer Without Borders uses football as a catalyst for positive social change and helps disadvantaged young people overcome their personal difficulties and pursue new oppor-tunities.
The organisation’s programmes in the USA encourage the social integration of refugee children. Soccer Without Borders has an international presence, with work based in Nica-ragua, Guatemala and Uganda, where the focus is to strengthen the position of women within society.
All programmes consist of five elements: football – play and instruction; off-field work-shops and lessons in issues and community challenges such as health, conflict resolution, self-expression, and goal setting; civic engagement; cultural exchange; and team-building activities.
