JAKPAN FC of Agege emerged Champions of the second edition of the Street Soccer League Cup, a programme funded by “Football For Hope”; the key element of the Strategic alliance between FIFA and streetfootballworld.

Jakpan won by beating cup favorite DON PEE FC of Abesan three – nil in the final. The highly entertaining final match at Astro Soccer Turf 2000 saw Ogunjimi Samuel scoring the first from a stunning shot. Ogunjimi added another to put his side two goals ahead before the close of the first half. JAKPAN FC came back smoking in the second half and added another goal to take the match beyond the Abesan boys. In the third place match YMCA VTC FC from Ibadan defeated OLUMIDE FC of Abesan one – nil in another match that held the spectators spell bound.

Twenty players are to be shorlisted out of which eight will be finally selected to represent Nigeria at the 2009 Homeless World Cup billed for Milan, Italy . Search and Groom's Executive Director, Yomi Kuku was full of praise to the players for their comportment and great skills and was short of words in thanking the Football for Hope Movement - the strategic alliance between FIFA and streetfootballworld – for giving hope to Nigerian youths by funding the tournament which is in its third year with the pilot phase tagged "FREE KICK" being held in 2006.

Trophies were presented to the winners with Kehinde Akinwande (a lady) who was the highest goal scorer of the three-day tournament being given special recognition. Curricular programmes including the “Human rights and young people” was part of the programme deleivered by constitutional lawyers from the NGO, Partnership for Justice represented by Mr John Oziegbe. The third edition of the Street Soccer League is expected to start in the first quarter of 2009.
