PuntaGol was founded in November 2006, with the vision to use football as a tool to promote positive social transformation within Punta Arenas. PuntaGol seeks to strengthen the social ties in these communities, involving youth and their families in on-going educational and cultural activities. The conceptual football-based framework implemented is “Fútbol Callejero”, as an attractive entry-point for youth, an effective tool to educate vital social and communication skills, and a platform in which the whole community comes together and makes visible its most pressing issues.

PuntaGol started its own regular Fútbol Callejero activities in Villa Mordones in December 2007, incorporating 40 youth and their families into series of street football tournaments, youth leadership training, as well as artistic and cultural activities. In March 2007, PuntaGol organised the first Patagonian Street Football Encounter, bringing together 120 youth from all across Punta Arenas as well as the cities of Porvenir and Calafate (Argentina). Through this event, PuntaGol has managed to get connected to community organisations from all across Punta Arenas, with whom PuntaGol has just created the first region-wide “Liga de Fútbol Callejero”.
