OLTALOM INTERNATIONAL FAIR PLAY FOOTBALL CUP MAKÓ 2009

On the 2009 August 13th Oltalom Sport Association organized the Oltalom International Fair Play Football Cup Makó 2009, this tournament was organized to congregate people from different countries and continents and from different social backgrounds, to use football and it's speciall capabilities to send a message of peace understanding and tolerance to all people. The city of Makó was picked up by the organizers due tue its proximity to the Romanian-Hungarian border. One of the goals of OSA is to organize friendly football matches as close to the border as possible in order to alleviate the constant tension existing between neighboring countries , and to send a message of peace, friendship, and understanding , to destroy racism and intolerance for ever. This tournament also provided a very usefull training for both teams of Romania and Hungary which will participatein the Homeless World Cup Milan 2009. The Hungarian team and the Romanian team met the next day just after the national selections of both countries had a friendly game. The five participating teams where: The Oltalom F.C. is the team which will represent Hungary in the Milano 2009 World Cup; The Israel team is made of young kids that are visiting Hungary from the Israeli cities of Sderot and Shlomi; The Romanian team representing our neighboring countrie of Romania this team will also participate in Milan 2009; The African Stars Team which is conformed by African people who migrated to Hungary from various countries of Africa; The Magyar Nemzeti Sport team conformed by a group of sport journalists from a popular sport newspaper in Hungary the purpose, to invite sport journalist was to show them the fair play football, and to convince them to use their possibilities to call up the attention for the importance of fair play. There were ten games, each team played against each other once, the winner of the match received three points, the other team received one point and if the game ended with the same score for both teams was granted two points. There were five volunteers from all over the world watching and supervising the games and giving fair play points to both the teams and the players. The games took place in a enviroment of brotherhood and friendship. At the beginning we had a speech from András Rákos the president of the Oltalom Sport Association inmediatly after that the games begun. All the teams gave the best of them, lots of new frienships were made and what is more important we spread a positive message of what sport and football should be, a binding and positive experience that is able to change and transform lives in a positive way. There were lots of media represented and with the help of them our aim to send the message finally realized. During the entire tournament the Africa Satrs F.C. were tied in points with the Hungarian Nemzeti team. This speciall circumstance transformed the last game into a very exciting final. All the viewers enjoyed the game and also where part of the positive message that we wanted to spread. There were several awards to win: a cup for the first place, one cup for the best player , a fair play cup for the team and for a player. Also the best goalkeeper received nice gloves with the signature of Eric Kantona. For the suggestion of the fair play supervisors we had to give an unfair play certificate for the teamthat gave the most trouble thru the tournament . For the spirit of the fair play we keep the team name a secret. After the games finished in the afternoon, all the teams and the representatives as well as the audience joined in a lunch that lasted through all the afternoon were everybody shared theire positive experiences and ideas abouit the Oltalom International Fair Play Cup Makó 2009. Unfortunatedly the time was not enough and all the teams had to leave back to theire destinations, hoping to meet next year. Also the organizers were very happy with this and hope to count with more collaboration to make of this a even bigger event next year, and count with more participating teams.
