Magic Bus was founded in 1999 by Matthew Spacie who initially played rugby with children from the streets and slums of Mumbai. Nowadays, Magic Bus predominantly uses football to provide outdoor learning and as a tool to empower highly underprivileged children. Magic Bus is strongly committed to providing girls with the opportunity to participate in football and has already achieved significant results.
The organisation is persuading parents to let their girls play football and has increased female participation from 10 to 30% in the last 2 years. Magic Bus has reached over 30,000 children in the last nine years and they currently reach 3,500 children per year with their programmes. The organisation works together with a large number of local and international partners, including foundations, corporate sponsors and governmental institutions. Magic Bus is no stranger to streetfootballworld having been granted funding by the Football for Hope movement in 2007.
