This year for the first time ever, the Republic of Rwanda is hosting together with the Democratic Republic of Congo the " FOUR COUNTRIES 4 PEACE" football tournament.

Association de Jeunes Sportif de Kigali "ESPERANCE" in partnership with the German Football Association is organizing a football for peace tournament from 7th to 9th June 2010.

The eight mixed (Boys and Girls) teams from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Burundi, Uganda and Rwanda will compete against each other in two groups.

As well as it is known, Football for peace initiative was originally developed by ESPERANCE NGO with the aim to reconcile the youth through encounter and exchange by using football as a medium.

With this " Four Countries 4 Peace"tournament, the youth of the Great Lakes Region has chance to complete together in the name of peace. They will exchange their views and explore together side by side how to live peacefully and build a common future. It isn't enough to talk about peace, one must believe it and make sure peace comes true. And it isn't enough to believe in it, one must work for it.

The finals and the award ceremony will be taking place in Gisenyi on Wednesday, 9th June 2010 at the football pitch of Nengo Cellule, Gisenyi sector in Rubavu District (Behind Serena Hotel, before Tam Tam).
