DADs team selected for the FFH Festival
|
The Dads Against Drugs team were United at the weekend (Sat 28th November) after a lenghty selection process with two schools where DADs delivers football outreach, firstly Endeavour High School from Hull and secondly Wolfreton High School from the East Riding, thus uniting two separate important geographical areas with the Yorshire and Humber Region. The Team selection was based on commitment and enthusiasm, whilst the the idea of working with schools also would impact on fundraising issues at a difficult economic time in Hull, it has been the hardest hit region throughout the UK the , employment and investment is very poor with little sign of a short term recovery, this has a big impact on social and health issues. The inclusion for DADs at the FFH Festival will be a great opportunity to showcase young people who are determined to highlight Hull & East Ridings contribution to the sfw network. Supporting the team are a group of motivated parents, extended family, teachers and business supporters as well as the wider DADs network, this includes a new project linked with ex drugs users and alcoholics who are determined to recover and support the DADs FFH team. The main aim now the team has been selected is to raise the necessary funds for travel and kit, but also aim to establish a legacy for this region to kick forward post FFH Festival. We have plans to hold many events leading up to our travel to Alexandra and will share this with fellow sfw members, whilst planning work is on-going the main activities will take place in 2010. Also in 2010 it will be 10 years of celebration since DADs were formed in 2000, there can be no better celebration to be honoured to have been selected for the Football for Hope Festival.
