Youth Development through Sport in Zambia
|
Breakthrough Sports Academy (BSA) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Technische Zusammenarbeit (GTZ) have partnered to implement a Youth Development through Football (YDF) project whose main aim is to utilise the power of football to empower youth and improve their life skills. The project has lined up water and sanitation activities in Ndola and Solwezi.
The main objective of the Health and Hygiene programme is to reduce the incidence death from water-borne diseases by raising awareness in appropriate health, hygiene and sanitation through football. This is envisaged to encourage a positive change in peoples` practices and attitudes that increase their vulnerability to water-borne diseases. BSA has formed six football teams comprising children aged between 10 and 12 years within each of the towns of the Sanitation Project.
