These days, an America SCORES poet-athlete does more than just play soccer and write poetry. With the ASCAP Songwriter Residency Program in session, our poet-athletes excitedly take on the role of singer-songwriters as well!

The ASCAP Songwriter Residency @ America SCORES is a unique program, built on collaboration between renown songwriters and America SCORES students. The aim of the program is to utilize the craft of songwriting as another engaging and inspiring way for the kids to express themselves. ASCAP brings talented artists from all genres to lead songwriting workshops for America SCORES students as part of their poetry classes. In just three after-school sessions, the ASCAP songwriters and America SCORES kids co-write and record completely original songs that are then circulated through the America SCORES community, the schools, and the music industry.

This year is special for the ASCAP Songwriter Residency @ America SCORES program. On top of a great group of Grammy-winning and Grammy-nominated ASCAP artists visiting SCORES sites, The Great Unknown, the critically-acclaimed alternative-folk-rock band from Philadelphia, is visiting the America SCORES program in FIVE cities: Washington DC, Cleveland, Milwaukee, New York and Boston.
