Disability
Our Disability Project encourages skills like sharing, listening, and following instructions; important skills, transferable to home and school. Encouraging these skills can minimize exclusion and stigma about disability. For some disabled people the opportunity for competition and achieving in their sport is also vitally important and at AIC we encourage that too. 4283 beneficiaries so far in 2009.
Education
The education department delivers a number of nationally accredited educational programmes that support the development of individuals from wide and varied backgrounds. We endeavour to provide an educational journey of self discovery and life long learning by using the power of football to engage, educate and inspire change. 1243 beneficiaries so far in 2009.
Inclusion
The Inclusion programme targets hard-to-reach and marginalised young people in areas of high inequality and deprivation. Activities are always safe, fun, football-based, regular, and free. Pioneering projects such as 'Kickz' and the award winning 'RSL Cup Final Project' (Football League Best Community Initiative 2008) make a difference to thousands of people in Sussex every week. 9,343 beneficiaries so far in 2009.
Health
Our Health department uses football for health in Sussex and beyond, working with partners to deliver innovative projects that inform and educate on the importance of making healthier lifestyle choices. Projects focus on reducing the levels of childhood obesity, raising the awareness of the signs and symptoms of cancer in males over 55, and reducing numbers of smokers. 3178 beneficiaries so far in 2009.
Community Liaison
The Community Liaison department uses the unique inspirational qualities and professional experience of ex-professional Brighton footballers to support and promote the club’s charitable community programmes, to assist with coaching and mentoring of “hard to reach” groups and to encourage community participation and business sponsorship of community events and projects. in 2009 the department has raised the profile of the scheme enormously.
Football & Multi Sports Programme
Our aims are: to encourage youngsters, whatever their ability, to participate and have fun in sport though professionally coached Saturday Soccer and After School clubs, Holiday and Residential Courses and Curriculum Time Coaching programmes in schools, to offer new young players progression routes, and to train and develop new coaches. 16,062 beneficiaries so far in 2009.
FOR
Football OutReach (FOR) is the embodiment of Albion in the Community's international work in Football for Development.
We work with our partners, Generations for Peace, Coaching for Hope, and No More Landmines to use football to transform conflict, to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS, and to raise awareness of the landmine issue. 3251 beneficiaries so far in 2009.
