World AIDS Day tournament in Durban, South Africa

For the second year in a row, streetfootballworld network member WhizzKids United (WKU) is hosting a World AIDS Day tournament. The event will take place at WKU's head office, Clarence Road Primary School in Durban.
Local governmental and non-governmental partners, corporates and supporters are invited to take part in a World Cup-style football and fundraising tournament.
WhizzKids United aims to use World AIDS Day to raise awareness for the ongoing challenges in the fight against HIV/AIDS and to strengthen its network of supporters in the community and beyond.

Activities in Latin America
In Latin America, the Liga FOS, in collaboration with streetfootballworld network member Defensores del Chaco and FuDe, streetfootballworld's regional coordination, has developed special informational material on HIV/AIDS as part of its health programme.
The flyers will be distributed during the weekly tournaments that take place around the area and involve several streetfootballworld network members in the region.

Lesotho:
In 2009, streetfootballworld network member Coaching for Hope (CfH) expanded its programme to Lesotho. Read Shawn Forde's opinion piece on last year's development, the achievements and
challenges, and how Coaching for Hope is supporting and strengthening the
community in its struggle to fight HIV/AIDS.
Burkina Faso: For World AIDS Day, the Coaching for Hope team in Burkina Faso is organising a tournament with its 18 partner organisations in the capital, Ouagadougou. The event gives all coaches trained by CfH and their teams, who have benefitted from the HIV/AIDS workshops, the opportunity to meet, play football and celebrate life.

Football and education in Oyugis, Kenya
streetfootballworld network member Society Empowerment Project in Kenya is hosting an educational football event in Oyugis, bringing the community, local stakeholders and international experts together.
The programme offers various educational panels and participatory sessions on reproductive health for adults and young people facilitated by the German Foundation for World Population (DSW) and the Institute of Education in Democracy. It also features drama and music workshops and, of course, football games throughout the day.

Universal Access and Human Rights in Zambia

streetfootballworld network member Bauleni United Sports Academy (BUSA) is celebrating World AIDS Day with a variety of activities such as HIV/AIDS awareness workshops and gender integrated friendly football matches with teams from BUSA project sites and the SOS Children's village in Lusaka.
World Aids Day 2010 activities is a reflection of what BUSA's Skillz and Peer Coaches have achieved in the community as they continue to empower and educate young people in the fight against HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted infections.

Break the chain in Namibia
For the past 12 months, the Take Control partnership under the lead of the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology has implemented the first phase of the “Break the Chain” integrated media campaign.
Starting on World AIDS Day, streetfootballworld network member NawaLife Trust has decided to reinforce campaign messaging around the “Break the Chain” campaign at the end of its first phase and ahead of its evaluation.
It is using the “Disc” activation tool, which in a concise manner explains sexual networks, the associated risk and risk reduction strategies to interested passers-by.
