Los Hatillos is a city with a population of 50,000, most of which are youths. It is an at-risk-area, saturated with drug and alcohol abuse, vandalism, child labour, criminality and a high percentage of kids dropping out of school. All these elements lead to the disintegration of many families, leaving youths in vulnerable circumstances. Through Vive Fútbol, children can convene to participate in a positive activity during their free time.
Furthermore, they can attend talks on different topics such as the consequences of dropping out of school and taking drugs as well as activities related to sports psychology. This initiative takes the project to the streets, where lots of youths are playing football and where the most vulnerable of youths are found. It is here that football turns into a tool to facilitate meetings with the kids, offering them support and helping them to positively transform their lives.
