UnLtd Sport Relief offers 60 cash awards
written on: 09-12-2007
UnLtd Sport Relief is offering 60 cash awards between now and November 2008 to young individuals who are connected with sport programmes. Applicants must be between the ages of 11 and 21 and have a great idea for a community project that uses sport to address a conflict within a community.
Funding programme
UnLtd Sport Relief Awards provide opportunities for young people to bring communities together, to help them promote understanding and solve conflict through sport and being active. This UK wide funding programme is for 11-21 year olds, who are prepared to go the extra mile and use their passion for sport to bring respect and understanding to their communities by setting up their own projects.
Funding of £250-£5,000 is available for entrepreneurial young people who have great ideas and who want to make a difference. For example, with this money they could engage young people from different backgrounds by organising an indoor cricket mini-world cup. Or perhaps help reduce violence in an area by getting young people to channel their energies into football rather than fighting. Award Winners receive cash Awards, one to one support, and training to help make their project a success. The UnLtd Sport Relief does not support political campaigning, activities outside the law, another organisations ongoing operations and is not paying for academic qualifications.
About UnLtd Awards
UnLtd's Millennium Awards provide practical and financial support to social entrepreneurs in the UK; people with vision, passion, drive and commitment, who want to change the world for the better. UnLtd Millennium Awards are funded by the income from a legacy of £100 million granted by the Millennium Commission. The Millennium Commission is the only distributor of lottery funds to good causes who some time ago decided to provide awards to individuals. Around 25,000 of these have been made so far and they have been so successful that they decided to provide the legacy to UnLtd to carry on this work for the future.
The next deadline for applications is Friday 11th January 2008. You can find out more information about the application process at www.unltd.org.uk/sportreliefawards
